The Landscape Artist Inc began operations in 1977 and was incorporated in 1979. Over the years we have slowly grown adding to our fleet and our staff. We now employ eight full time and twenty to twenty-five seasonal staff. Key personnel are some of the best in the business and are dedicated to their trade.
We own a fleet of modern trucks and machinery equipped with all the tools we need to do a professional job. We have a dedicated network of sub-trades and suppliers who provide us with their specialties as required.

Hello, I am Peter Van Seggelen, president & general manager of The Landscape Artist inc. Let me give you an introduction to our company. Since 1977 we have been designing and installing some of Calgary’s finest gardens providing a full range of services including retaining walls… patios & walks… decks…., privacy screens…, gazebos… water features …. fireplaces … pools … spas….and much more. We cater to a wide variety of styles from lush cottage gardens to low maintenance options for those who want a beautiful property without all the upkeep.
We serve the greater Calgary area specializing in residential custom landscaping on all sizes of projects from infills to acreages.
The process begins with a complimentary site visit to your home. During this initial consultation, we discuss general design concepts that will suit your needs and budget. The next step is to book in the actual landscape design. This design is an architectural scale drawing that will lay out all the individual elements of the project including a complete site analysis, planting plan and grading plan. When the plan is complete there is another meeting at your home to present the finished drawings and an itemized cost estimate of every aspect of your project. After receiving this quote you may contract us to implement your new outdoor living space. We have in-house crews that handle most of the construction and we also act as a general contractor to coordinate specialized trades and services so that you only need to deal with one company, us, to organize your project. Our workers are all certified or journeymen and are dedicated to their trade. We stand behind our work with a comprehensive two year warranty on construction and one year on plant material.
